Disable Caps Lock/Num Lock Notifications That Minimize Games

Let me guess: you’re here because you were playing a game, like PUBG or Battlefield, and some stupid caps lock or num lock notification ripped you from your full screen gaming experience. You cursed loudly and flashed horrific alien hand signals of profanity at your computer.

I played a certain game awhile ago that tied an action to the caps lock key, but every time I pressed the key, it would minimize my game and take me back to the Windows 10 desktop. It was so irritating, so I began my search for a cure.

I checked all Windows settings but couldn’t find anything there. I knew I hadn’t intentionally installed any programs that would do that.

It took about an hour, but I finally narrowed down the cause of the notification to my CSR Bluetooth software.

I purchased this bluetooth dongle quite awhile ago, and come to find out, the software that runs it is called CSR Bluetooth, and one of the software’s “features” is an on-screen notification that shows what keys are pressed (specifically the caps/num/scroll lock keys).

Why, you ask? There is no knowledge, no piece of information, in the world that could explain this. Someone at the company had a seizure and accidentally added this program to the CSR software, and it just got out there like that. That is literally the only possibility.

Well, we know what causes the problem. Now, how to fix it?

It’s pretty easy. You simply need to turn off the OSD Settings program:

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
  2. Click the Processes tab, click on Csr Bluetooth OSD Settings, then End Task.
  3. Click the Startup tab, click on Csr Bluetooth OSD Settings, then click Disable.

Rejoice! It’s gone! No more on-screen notifications when a key is pressed!
